DoP Table at Global Warming Town Hall Meeting

October 26, 2007
Posted by Robert Weir, District Leader

The DoP campaign had a table at a town hall meeting on Global Warming, held at the Kalamazoo Public Library, this past Wednesday.

Five people signed our petition to Fred Upton. Two said they wanted to be on our membership roster. A few people made donations for DoP buttons and peace greeting cards.

Thanks to Marilyn Eccles, Chuck Harmon, Luann Van Dam and Karen Chadwick for populating the table and distributing DoP information cards.

The global wamng discussion included a comment that the production and use of plastic bags is a significant contributor to global warming, toxic trash, the vast area of plastic flotsam in the oceans, and the death of thousands of marine animals that die from consuming the plastic bags. Using reusable bags will reduce this adverse situation. The DoP campaign has heavy duty cloth bags with the images of Mahatman Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr., available. To obtain one, please contact DoP Merchandise Manager, Karen Chadwick, at 269-352-6028.
