For a full pdf of the poster, click here> The Swami Beyondananda Show at Kalamazoo College's Dalton Theatre was a sweet success. Slightly fewer than 300 people enjoyed the Swami's wit and wisdom as puns rolled from his tongue like a mighty river. The Swami's program consisted of two parts: in the first, he entertained, enlightened, and enamored; in the second part, he answered audience questions about his humor and political views. Many times during both, the audience broke into spontaneous applause that seasoned nearly continuous laughter. After the show, many of the people lingered in the lobby to relish the afterglow, purchase Swami's books and DVDs, obtain new Department of Peace t-shirts and totes, and gather printed information about the DoP. The air was aglow with affirmations and compliments on the show's high quality as well as the political pointedness of the Swami's message. Ticket sales, donations and expenses are still being tallied, however, the net income gained appears to be in the area of $1,500 to $2,000. This is on top of the $1,600 in revenue gained from the DoP Yard Sale the previous Saturday. The proceeds from both events will be used to further messages of peace through understanding in Southwest Michigan and to lobby Congressman Fred Upton to support the Department of Peace legislation. Thanks to: ALSO: The next DoP meeting will consist of little business as we celebrate the success of both Swami and the Yard Sale. |
