Meeting notes from November 8, 2007, taken and provided by Chuck Harmon Posted by Robert Weir, district leader. Major theme for evening's consideration: What do we want to do next? Attendance: Bob Weir, Karen Tinklenberg, Alice Noecker, Lea Kunze, Chuck Harmon, Steve Senesi, John McNaughton, Carolyn Dixon, Marilyn Eccles, Karen Chadwick, Janice Lakers, Carol Higgins, Tomme Maile, John Kinch, Elizabeth Hoepker, Louann Van Dam, James Frazee Steve Senesi from Kalamazoo Nonviolent Opponents to War (KNOW) presented the possibility of a collaborative fundraiser using the comedy improvisation group CRAWL SPACE EVICTION ...end of Feb. or beginning of March...staged at Kalamazoo College...needs to know by mid December. Motion made/seconded/carried to make our decision at December 13 meeting. Monthly letter sent to Rep. Fred Upton...also to Senators Stabenow and Levin – focus on recent adoption of a DoP resolution by Kalamazoo City Commission. Cards sent to Kalamazoo City Commission and Kalamazoo City Clerk regarding adoption of DoP resolution, Unity Church of Kalamazoo for hosting "10 Questions for the Dalai Lama" movie and donating the proceeds to the DoP, and to Justin Trezza of the local GreenPeace movement for allowing us to table at a global warming town hall meeting at the Kalamazoo Public Library. Financial report...at Oct. meeting $3089.40 as of Nov. meeting $3098.22 Bob Weir has monies to turn in from Unity Church in the amount of $250. Other money also to be turned in. Karen Chadwick and Lea Kunze have a list of people with phone numbers but no email address – about 10 percent of the district DoP membership. Karen and Lea would like to set up a telephone tree to inform these people of important dates/information. Volunteers needed to help make contacts. Lea Kunze motioned and Alice Noecker seconded that we purchase two DoP banners, 4 x 2 and 6 x 2. Carried. Carol Higgins motioned and Lea. Kunze seconded that the December 13 meeting be ½ hour for business and 1 hour social time (lets get to know each other better). Carried. The main business item to be discussed will be the possible Crawlspace Eviction fundraiser. Karen Chadwick motioned and John McNaughton seconded that we provide a gift of $100 twice a year to the Church of the Brethren for use of their facilities. Carried. Upcoming tabling event will be at Russian Fest on WMU campus, November 10. Meeting was brought to its conclusion. |
